![]() It also shows how the author, Laura Ruby, is very talented at using descriptive words and creating a sense of magic. ![]() This quote shows the magic and fantasy that is included in Bone Gap. “The mare thundered across a flat gray plain that Finn saw too late, too late, was the edge of a mountain, and then the mare was leaping into the air, and they were falling over the cliff, until they felt the wind catch them, carry them in its soft, dark hand as if the horse and two riders were nothing but a feather that wended its way down the mountainside” (109). It also helps explain why Sean grew so distant and upset with Finn after Roza’s disappearance because he thought it was partially Finn’s fault that they could not find Roza. This shows how much Sean cared for Roza, and that he loved her for more than just her looks. “When Roza laughed, Sean grinned, too, like a kid getting a birthday present” (83). ![]() This is important because Sean and many other believed that Roza must have decided to leave, but Finn knew the truth. Finn became determined to try and find Roza. This shows that Finn was guilty about being the only witness of Roza’s kidnapping but not being able to describe the kidnapper. ![]()
