![]() That’s it at the top of the page, a picture of Earth, a tiny, pale blue dot suspended in a sunbeam against the backdrop of the endless dark ocean of space. The excerpt is in regards to a picture taken, at Sagan’s suggestion, by the Voyager 1 probe as it was leaving our planet’s local neighborhood from approximately 6 billion kilometers away, the vessel turned to take its last look at home. For example, if I can be half as effective as a science communicator, I will consider myself a resounding success. ![]() I want to share an excerpt from the writings of Carl Sagan, a man I hope to emulate in several ways. I would like to share something with you today, something very dear to me that has significantly affected my outlook on life and how I view the world and everything in it.
